First, acquire your Studio computer. Then familiarise yourself with the in-built applications. Then take a look at the video series and support
package only available to Studio PC owners.
The Studio Package provides you with everything you need to set up and control your business Internet activities.
Build your own website
But more than that understand the code that makes it function. As a business owner you will have
received thousands of emails claiming that the sender is 'an SEO expert'.
They don't tell you that SEO and metadata are only a small part of what makes a website show at the top of the search listings. For
example, Google uses bots, spiders and AI to ascertain to what degree a website is "a site of expert content". The days of including a few keywords
and expecting results are long gone. Don't waste your money on 'experts'. Do it yourself and know it has been done properly.
Set up your domain
Setting up, owning and being in control of your online domain is important.
Some agencies that offer to do this for you sometimes register themselves as the owner. Failure to properly set up and register your company
domain can cause legal and technical problems later. Such issues can affect your website's search listings. Choose a domain name that is short
and snappy. It does not have to exactly match your company name. Know the important differences between your Domain, your Domain Registrar and
your Hosting company.
Choose your hosting company and set up your server
The names you have probably heard of — such as Go Daddy and Wix — may not be the best for you. Like all American mega-corporations
they have their fixed way of doing things. They exist to make money, not to be helpful. With a little knowledge and the right hosting company
you can set up your online presence in the way that suits you best. And you don't have to ask for permission each time you want to make changes
and improvements.
Set up your emails
Set up as many emails as you wish that are linked to your domain(s). No more Gmail, Yahoo or Hotmail. No more AI reading all your
online correspondence so it can be sold to your competitors. Look professional. Be professional. Be secure. Cross connect your emails
to your PC or phones.
FTP
Use FTP — File Transfer Protocol to set up your own secure version of Dropbox or Cloud storage. Be totally independent.
Box above your weight. Have the performance and resources normally reserved for the biggest companies.
Few, if any, smaller companies are able to maximise the benefits that the Internet can provide. Having to use the services of agents
and middlemen of dubious honesty, at significant cost, severely hampers the abilty of most enterprises to harness the power of online
systems. Be seen, get found, win new customers, save time, save money. Sell, buy, transact, get paid. Expand your Internet presence
while still maintaining privacy, security and confidentiality.
